Default Edge E-Z problem/question

I have an 01 with the edge ez. when i start it first thing in the morning or after work it has a knocking sound at about half throttle. If i give it full throttle it sounds fine. I checked the connections and they're fine. any help? thanks.

Short answer : No
Long answer : Two thoughts and I'm completely speculating. First I would try to isolate the problem. It's easy and quick to take the edge unit out of the equation. Unplug it from the truck, returning it to stock and see if the problem persists. If not, then it's obviously the edge unit. After that, I would call edge, they may have seen this before or at least have an idea of what might cause it. Pure speculation again, but if it only happens right after start up, it sounds like it's advancing timing on your truck before your truck is warmed up. I have the edge w/attitude and it won't start adding power/making adjustments until the ECT reaches 167 degrees.

Pilot injection sound perhaps? I am with blksmok, sounds like too much timing before warmup or a clash with the pilot injection. I take it that when you remove the edge it doesn't do this?

Anyone else near you that also has the edge? Maybe its normal for the edge to sound this way.

Anybody on here running the edge notice the behaviour this guy is describing?

I run Edge EZ on my LLY and have never heard this. I have had to remove it a couple times (dealer visits) and noticed no difference on or off. The only difference I notice is how underpowered the truck is until it gets warmed up, I believe Edge EZ will not engage (in any of the 3 levels: low, med, high) until a certain engine temperature (about 170)!

Well, the manual for my edge unit says that everything is stock until the tempature hits 165, the you get 50% of the setting, and at 175 you get full power. I see no reason that the EZ model would be different.

You called it, I looked at my manual and it states: below 160 everything is stock. At 160 it starts to add fuel and timing @ 50%. The percentages increase as engine temperature increases until engine reaches 174 at which point it delivers 100% additional fuel and timing.
