Default Power Loss WTF

I've experence this a couple of times while towing our 30' artic fox and with just our balloon trailer.
When I try to acellerate above 2k RPM's there is a loss of power just like the engine is starved for fuel. If I pull over and shut the truck off for 30 to 45 seconds the engine starts right up and no further problems and it may not do it again. This has happen about six months ago and then again on a trip to Denver last weekend.
Any ideas?

When was the last time you changed the fuel filter?

Got a scan tool? Any stored codes?

FPRV can cause similar symptoms.... but I'd do as previous poster said and do filter first.

Intermittent stuff is the worst....

Had the same problem a couple of years ago. Turns out the wire harness had rubbed through where it was tied to an aluminum stand near the front of the right valve cover. Wrapped it up an tied it to the stand again. Problem solved.

Your FPRV is weak.

Shim it and this problem will go away forever.

Well after all this time I finally have some answers.
We left on a 3800 mile trip back in Nov. to my daughters grauation from USAF Officer training.
Drove the 5er to Montgomery, AL then to San Antonio were she will be stationed.
On the trip I experienced the loss of power when down shifting on hills but not a lot of hills in TX, OK, MS, & AR. but it did quit a couple of times.
I found that if I shut the truck down and then primed the filter it would run just fine until down shifted and needed some power.
We had the filter changed in Pecos on our way home but I was having more power losses as we went up to Santa Fe.
I took it into a dealership in S.F. but in 4 hours, removing the tank, changing some lines, another new filter they found nothing, but the truck was running so bad after the work that we had to leave the 5er in Espanola and limp home at 30mph up the passes in CO.
I took the truck into our local dealer and after a day and several test runs they found grass clippings in the banjo bolt at the fuel pump before the filter.
I can only think that some little B#%$&%d in the neighborhood put grass in my tank when the truck was parked out on the street.
Total cost about $900

Wow! That's strange. I guess your going to have to get a locking fuel cap. I got one when fuel went to over $4 per gallon.
