I have had one on mine for about 15,000 miles. I bought it primarily for towing mileage and picked up almost 1 mpg with it. I pull a 9000# travel trailer with it also, always on # 3, I think it improves the drivability of the truck also.

You should post your sig so we can see all your options. I had the Hypertech Max Energy and a stock tranny. Did nothing but slip the tranny when I pulled my old 6000# trailer. Now I am running PPE Xcelerator and I upgraded the tranny to a Suncoast stage III w/ 1056 convertor. No slippage now and it drives like a dream pulling the new 13500# Raptor toyhauler.

My brother runs a Hypertech in his LLY, and is very pleased with it. If your goal is modest power and good street manners at a moderate price, it sounds like a good tuner.

Scott, you need an EGT gauge. I dont want to scare you but you need to know when to get off the go pedal a little.

Would you care to explain why? Most people don't just wake up and hate something without a reason.

Without basis, this opinion is not very useful. Looks like a "sh!t & run post".

Default Had one...

I had a hypertech for my 02 and then used it on my 05 (same part #). Went straight to level 3 because I knew that is where I was going to use it anyway. It smoke like a son of a gun. I thought that I had broke something. Power increase was marginal....smoked no matter how slow I tried to take off. Lowered it thinking maybe it was too much. Nope. Even on level 1 it smoked, bad. It would take about 15-20 miles before exhaust cleaned up. Took it to the dealer and they gave the truck a clean bill of health. Put the hypertech back on...same problem. Called the tech department....first time i called was previous to this problem with regards to the "advertised" mileage increase for my 02. They stated that the increase comes with intake and exhaust upgrades. When I called about my 05, they then said that the programmer was tested/designed for stock trucks....sold the thing same week.

Now have PPE.....they also advertised mileage of 2-3 for my model.yr truck. No such luck....I hope that the EFI does the trick finally....
